The cafeteria at the U.S. House of Representatives has reverted from sustainable, compostable food packaging to plastic and styrofoam now that the Republicans are in charge. Apparently, they consider it their patriotic duty to befoul our earthscape by using a new plastic fork for each bite of irradiated endangered species they eat.
Democrats are calling foul. And now, they've issued a warning to John Boehner that the phthalates and other components in the new packaging could cause cancer.
Now, first of all, have these people ever seen John Boehner? He is a carcinogen unto himself. I don't think the letter is going to resonate.
Secondly, am I the only one who sees the benefit here? Obviously, all house Democrats will be bringing their own cloth napkins and stainless lunch tiffins when they eat at the cafeteria, if indeed they deign to eat at an establishment where quinoa is not on the menu. And, if they're smart, they'll pack along enough reusable bamboo lunchware for any constituents who join them. So, who's left to eat off the pthalate-ridden utensils? Anyone? The REPUBLICANS.
Nancy Pelosi had this planned all along: The Republican House is going to eat its way out of a majority. Genius. And then she can swoop in and reinstate reusable, sustainable, organic, locavore, farm-to-table practices. If she can find her way past the overflowing, CFC-bloated cafeteria garbage cans, that is.
